2007 AABC Results Anounced

Huge congratulations to BABBs member Ben Connery for placing second in British and Irish Ale, and third in Stout.  Ben was the only placegetter from Queensland.  Congratulations to all the competitors for what was, by all reports, a very high quality competition with much difficulty choosing winning beers.A special congratulations must go out to Dan Rayner (Champion Beer) and Craig Webber (Champion Brewer) both of the ACT.Check out http://www.aabc.org.au for the summary results of all classes.

2007 Most Consistent Brewer named

The Last general meeting of the year last night saw Ross Kenrick named the 2007 BABB Most Consistent Brewer. This is rewarded to the brewer who performs best over the years mini-comps. Ross brewed consistently excellent beer, winning two comps for the year and always appearing in the top place getters for the others. Paul Hoepper was awarded first runner up and Michael Mowbray second runner up. Congratulations to the place getters and to all competitors over the year.

QABC 2007 Results

Several BABB members entered the recently resinstated Queensland Amateur Brewing Championship with much success. Club members managed to win seven of nine classes judged and also picked up a couple of second and third places. Sounds impressive, huh? Well, there were only 40 entries for this competition this year so let's hope plenty more Queenslanders (and more BABBs members) get behind this competition in 2008. It is a prequalifier for the Australian Amateur Brewing Championship and so this year BABBs will be well represented in that competition. Good luck to all competitors! The QABC results are attached.

2007 ANAWBS Results

Once again, BABB's members have put in an exceptional performance at this years Australian National Amateur Wine & Beer Show. Congratulations to all BABB's members who participated in this year's competition and represented the club so strongly.

QAAWBG 2007 State Comp

On Saturday, September 1st, a group of 10 BABB's members, including your editor, made the journey to the Ipswich Showgrounds for the QAAWBG Annual Competition Dinner. I am pleased to report that on the return journey, we were weighed down by an impressive array of trophies and awards. BABB's retained the title of Champion Beermaking Guild, increasing last year's winning margin, and scoring more than three times the points of our nearest competitor. Of the ten classes open to all-grain brewers, eight were won by BABB's, with the other two classes won by Lyall Cottam, representing PUBS. Congratulations to all BABB's members who participated in this year's State Championship.
